Can departments be assigned to Manager roles in SalaryBox (eg Branch Admin, Attendance Manager, and Advanced Attendance Manager)?
Admins can now define both Branches and Departments for their company to easily manage the staff and provide selective access to Branch Managers and Attendance Managers based on branch and department combinations.
What is the difference between a Branch and a Department?
Branches are individual locations from where your company staff operates. If you use the geofencing feature provided by SalaryBox, your staff will only be able to mark their attendance within the radius you have set for your respective branch location to which the staff belongs.
Departments are not linked to location, but instead the nature of the role. For example: Sales, Support, HR, etc.
How to create Branches on SalaryBox?
Admins can set up the company branches on the below platforms:
Android
1. Open the SalaryBox app and go to Settings.
2. Now, click on Edit in front of the logo and company name.
3. Click on Branches.
4. Click on +Add Branch.
5. Fill in the Branch Name and click on Continue.
6. Select the Branch Address and set the Maximum Attendance Radius. Now, click on Add New Branch.
7. Here, you will see a pop-up, you just have to click on Yes to add the new branch.
iPhone
1. Open the SalaryBox app and go to Settings.
2. Click on My Branches.
3. Click on +Add Branch.
4. Enter the Branch Name, Set Branch Address, and Radius in metre. Now click on +Add to add the branch.
Desktop
1. Open the SalaryBox desktop application, and click on Settings on the left sidebar.
2. Now, go to the My Branches.
3. Click on Add New Branch.
4. Enter the Branch Name, Branch Address, and Radius in metre. Now, click on Save.
How to create Departments on SalaryBox?
Admins can set up the company branches on the Web.
Note: Currently you can't create departments on Android and iPhone.
Desktop
1. Open the SalaryBox desktop application, and click on Settings on the left sidebar.
2. Now, go to the My Departments.
3. Click on Add Departments.
4. Enter the Department Name, and click on Add Department.
Note: There are no departments defined for a company. Only Admins can create/edit and delete departments in the company
How to add employees in a specific department?
Once a department has been created, the admin can add employees to specific departments.
Desktop
1. Open the SalaryBox desktop application, and click on Settings on the left sidebar.
2. Go to My Departments.
3. Now, click on Manage Employees.
4. Here, click on Add in front of the employee's name you want to add in the specific departments. Similarly, you can remove the employees from the specific department by clicking on Remove.
Note: In case the admin deletes a department to which staff is already assigned, the staff is also removed from the deleted departments.
Admins can also assign Departments to any staff from the Edit Employee Screen under the Employee Details section.
How to generate Branch and Department reports?
Yes, after admins have set up company Branch and Departments and assigned staff to said Branches and Departments, they can generate various reports such as Attendance and Payment reports based on Branch and Department filters from the Reports section on the Web and Android app (iOS coming soon).
Android
1. Open the SalaryBox app and go to Settings.
2. Now, go to Reports.
3. For example, click on Attendance.
4. Click on Attendance Summary Report, select Branch, select the Department, turn on the toggle for Payroll Attendance Cycle, and select Duration and Format. Now, click on Download Report. Similarly, you can download all types of reports.
Desktop
1. Open the SalaryBox desktop application, and click on Reports on the left sidebar.
2. For example, click on Attendance. Select Report Type, Branch, Department, Month and Format. Now, click on Generate Report. Similarly, you can download all types of reports.
Can departments be assigned to Manager roles in SalaryBox (eg Branch Admin, Attendance Manager, and Advanced Attendance Manager)?
Yes. If a Manager is assigned a department (or multiple departments), their access will be restricted to the specified departments only within their assigned branches.
Please refer to below sample example below for Manager access for different scenarios based on the Branch and Department assigned
