Set up and Manage TDS Deductions

Set up and Manage TDS Deductions

You want to configure Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) rules to comply with tax regulations. Setting up TDS in SalaryBox automates tax deductions and helps in accurate tax reporting.

Step 1: Update Staff CTC
  • Once the CTC of an employee is updated in the system, the TDS will be automatically calculated based on the taxable income.

Step 2: Access and Update TDS Details via Tax Declaration
  1. Go to the "My Team" section.

  2. Click on the staff member's name whose TDS needs to be managed.

  3. On the left-hand side, scroll down the page to find the Tax Declaration" option.

  4. Click on the "Tax Declaration" option.

  5. You will now see the Tax Declarations for FY, which include:

  • Earnings

  • Exemptions

  • Standard Deductions

  • Taxable Income

  • Total Tax Liability

Step 3: Managing Past Earnings (For Mid-Year Joinees)

Example: If an employee joined the company in July, the system will automatically calculate earnings from July to March of the financial year.

To account for income earned between April to June, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the "Tax Declaration" tab.

  2. Click on the "Past TDS in FY" option.

  3. Enter the following details:

  • Total Taxable Salary from April to June

  • TDS Deducted/Paid during that period

This ensures the full year's income and TDS are correctly reported and taxed.

Step 4: Change Tax Regime (New ↔ Old)
  • By default, the system applies the New Tax Regime.

  • To change it:

  1. Click on the "Edit" button in the right corner of the Tax Declaration section.

  2. Choose either the Old or New regime as per the employee's preference.

Step 5: Update Exemptions and Deductions
  • On the same Tax Declaration page, you can also:

  1. Add or modify exemptions (e.g., HRA, LTA, etc.)

  2. Add deductions under relevant sections (like 80C, 80D, etc.)
